Daffodil International University opens M. Sc. in Cyber Security Program
As a symbol of academic excellence and commitment to meet the evolving needs of the digital society, Daffodil International University is offering M.Sc. in Cyber Security under the Department of Software Engineering from next January spring semester 2024. This was informed at the ‘Meet the Press’ ptogram held today 09 December 2023 at71 Milonayoton of Daffodil Plazaat Mirpur Road, Dhanmondi in the capital.
Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Chief Executive Officer of Daffodil Family was present at the ‘Meet the Press’ program as the chief guest while Professor Dr. Syed Akhtar Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Science and Information Teachnology (FSIT) of Daffodil International University readout the written speech among the journalist. The Meet the Press was also addressed by Dr. Imran Mahmud, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Software Engineering of the University, Md. Maruf Hassan, Associate Professor & Program Director of M. Sc. in Cyber Security and Dr. Shapla Khatun, Assistant Professor, Department of Software Engineering of the university.
While addressing among the journalists Professor Dr. Syed Akhtar Hossain said, We are in an era where digital technologies have become central to our daily lives, the significance of cybersecurity cannds becoming a Smart Nation, the role of cybersecurity becomes even more crucial. As we embrace the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), the cybersecurity landscape is undergoing rapid changes. The increasing sophistication of cyber threats poses new challenges, highlighting a critical gap in skilled cybersecurity professionals. This gap is a global issue, affecting nations and industries across the world. In Bangladesh, we observe a pressing need for experts who can navigate the complexities of this digital domain, safeguarding our infrastructure and information against cyber threats.

Key areas of focus include Cryptography, Network and System Security, Digital Forensics, Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing, Information Security Risk Management, and Information Systems Audit and Assurance. This diverse curriculum ensures that our students are well-equipped to tackle the multifaceted challenges of the cybersecurity world.
Our program stands out for its inclusive approach and practical orientation. We welcome students from both IT and non-IT backgrounds, providing a platform for diverse perspectives and ideas. Program Director of M. Sc. in Cyber Security said, the program is structured to cater to different academic backgrounds. For students with an IT background, the program duration is 1.5 years (3 semesters) and for students from a non-IT background, the duration is extended to 2 years (4 semesters). Students have the option to choose between a thesis-based and a project-based Master's program. This flexibility allows them to tailor their learning experience according to their career aspirations and interests.
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be prepared for various roles in the cybersecurity domain, such as Cybersecurity Analyst, Ethical Hacker, IT Security Consultant, and many others. These roles are crucial in today's digital ecosystem, and our graduates will be at the forefront of protecting digital infrastructures and information.
The cost of the program is structured to be accessible while maintaining the highest standards of education. For IT background students, the program costs range from Tk. 145375 for the thesis-based option to Tk. 148375 for the project-based option. For non-IT background students, the costs are Tk. 223750 for the thesis-based program and Tk. 226750 for the project-based program.
